DR. MATT BUFFAN
I was too late…
When I first launched my medical career – it was all wrong.
I wanted to do something of value, to help people in an impactful way. I earned a degree in psychology from SUNY Geneseo. I had research skills. So, I started working with cancer patients who were involved in clinical trials.
After all, what’s more meaningful than helping cancer patients, right?
I was responsible for setting patients up on new experimental drugs. Most of the time, these were terminally ill patients. These were the people that everyone had all but given up on. At this point, what did they have to lose?
The thing is…
Working with these people in this way didn’t feel right.
Now, don’t get me wrong. These patients were the most amazing people I had ever met. They were so strong and resilient. They were able to persevere despite the extreme pain and drastic changes to their body they experienced as a result of their disease and their treatment.
But I was helping make these people into nothing more than data points in a clinical trial.
I wanted to do more for people. But what?
That’s when the realization struck me…
I wanted to help people BEFORE they reach the end stage. I wanted to help them before they needed palliative care. I wanted to help people live their very best life with health and vitality.
It was at this time that I discovered a profession in which I could help people get rid of pain naturally and live a life fully in line with what nature intended for us.
I was going to be a chiropractor!
Well, I studied at New York Chiropractic College and I became a chiropractor…
And it STILL wasn’t enough!
Through my journey into chiropractic care and beyond, I have learned a VERY important thing…
People need someone who can figure out the root cause of their pain.
Now, I had learned a lot up to this point. My chiropractic studies had taught me about anatomy, neurology, pathology, and healing without drugs and surgery. It was amazing.
Yet, it STILL wasn’t enough!
I had to dig deeper.
To do that, I became a conference junkie. I travelled across the country, learning about functional rehabilitation, biomechanics, motion palpation, and advanced soft tissue techniques to resolve fibrous adhesion.
Big words, I know. But I finally had all the pieces!
. I became certified by Integrative Diagnosis™ in Manual Adhesion Release™ (MAR) and Instrument Adhesion Release ™ (IAR).
DR. ALEX KUEHL
Chiropractor, Soft Tissue Specialist
I’m Dr. Kuehl, a chiropractor at Movement Rx Pain Relief; I’m really excited to be a part of this team and to provide our patients with solutions for their long-lasting low back, hip, and sciatica pain.
I became a chiropractor because I wanted to solve people’s pain problems at the root cause, not just mask the pain with medications or injections. But in my experience, traditional chiropractic care seemed to only help some people and only for a temporary period of time.
I wanted to provide people with lasting relief so they could live their lives and continue to do what they love. This led me to pursue specialized training in soft tissue diagnosis and treatment, where I met Dr. Matt. I also gained advanced knowledge of the human body from earning my master’s degree in clinical anatomy and teaching human dissection to chiropractic students for three years.
Everyone in pain needs a proper exam and diagnosis before any kind of treatment. My goal is to ultimately help people live free from their pain, by finding the reason for their pain and by providing the right treatment for their problem.
I’m Ben Rossi, the Patient Advisor at Movement Rx Pain Relief.
I love being a part of this team as I enjoy meeting new people, helping those in need, and making a difference in people’s lives.
Prior to joining the Movement Rx team, I spent many years of my career working in small businesses and with not-for-profit companies. Switching careers allowed me to concentrate on my primary passion – helping others.
Here at Movement Rx, I guide our patients through their entire experience. All starting with a personal conversation to truly understand the nature of a person’s pain issue, through a treatment plan, to their ultimate success leaving the practice as happy, healthy, pain-free.
I am a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a degree in mathematics. I have a passion for music and play in several bands in Rochester.
Hi! I’m Ellen, a clinical assistant at Movement Rx Pain Relief.
I am ready and excited to help our patients feel better and live well! After 20 years as medical social worker, I now have the opportunity to direct my strong desire to help others in a new and positive direction. I am inspired and energized seeing our patients improve, feel better and return to the activities they enjoy.
My background is similarly varied with the team at Movement Rx. I graduated from Hope College with a degree in Dance and after performing and teaching for several years, I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University. I continue to dance when I can and currently practice and teach yoga regularly. My newest favorite activity is paddle boarding.
Hi! I’m Dan, a clinical assistant at Movement Rx Pain Relief.
I’m excited to be here because I want to help people do what they love to do without worrying about their body!
When I started working with Dr. Matt, I had recently ended a career traveling as a professional musician. (I play the bass!) I knew that a desk job wasn’t going to work for me.
Since starting here, I really enjoy meeting people who are in a tough place that need a plan solving their problem. I love seeing them make functional progress, and learning about what they love to do.
For me, I love getting treatment so I can be on the mountain, biking or skiing, playing lacrosse and jamming on my bass!
Patient Care Coordinator
Hi! I’m Shiena, the Patient Care Coordinator at Movement Rx Pain Relief.
I’m really grateful that I’m able to help our patients (though can’t meet them personally) even in small ways – setting up their appointments and assisting other concerns.
I like watching Korean Dramas during my free time. Their stories are amazing and I get to see new twists in each episode.
I was a Team Lead in the BPO industry for almost 4 years before I finally landed this job which I definitely love and enjoy. I always felt great awe for this team, plus the work-life balance this job has to offer.
I’m Ellen, a Patient Advisor at Movement Rx Pain Relief. I’m excited to join the Movement Rx Pain Relief team!
I have been a patient here for years. I love to meet new people and I look forward to being a part of their journey to become healthy and pain free again.
Outside of work, I enjoy being active. It may be walking, hiking, biking or weight training. I am always up to try something new!
Previous to joining our team, I worked as a Community Coordinator at Athleta.
Hi, I’m Toni a billing specialist for Movement Rx Pain Relief. I’m behind the scenes making sure that insurance companies are doing there job for our patients.
I’ve been working with Dr. Matt for 7 years! Whenever I have a problem, that other people can’t seem to figure out or help me, I bring it to Dr. Matt or Dr. Alex and they help me get moving again. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my two kids who are my pride and joy. I like to travel but when I’m at home, nothing beats the sounds of a purring cat.
